A small town with two courts, no club and no drop-in - which makes it unusually good for a one-to-one.
Cotati is small, and its pickleball is small with it: two courts striped onto tennis at Sunflower Park, no club, no organised drop-in, no council programme. On most measures that makes it the thinnest town on this site, and it would be dishonest to pretend otherwise.
It has one real advantage, though, and it is a genuine one. Because nothing is organised there, the courts are usually empty. If you are self-conscious about learning a new sport in front of a queue of regulars - and a lot of people are, particularly adults who have not been coached at anything in thirty years - a quiet court in Cotati is a much better first hour than a busy one in Rohnert Park.
For anything social, Rohnert Park is five minutes up the road and has twelve courts and a club. The sensible pattern for a Cotati player is to learn here and play there.

Sunflower Park's courts are tennis courts with pickleball striping, free and open during daylight hours, with no lights. Note that the city does not itself advertise the pickleball striping - the listing comes from player directories rather than the council - so if you are making a special trip it is worth a look before you commit to it.
We could not find an organised drop-in session, a local club or a council pickleball class in Cotati. For finding a game that is a drawback and the answer is Rohnert Park. For a first lesson it is the whole appeal: you get a court to yourself and an hour where nobody is waiting for it.

For a first lesson, often yes - the courts are quiet and there is no audience. Once you want to play regularly you will end up in Rohnert Park anyway, because that is where the people are.
